- Making a contract with us
When you place an order with us (The Solid Wood Furniture Company Ltd) you are making an offer to buy goods. We will send you an email confirmation that we have received your order.
Once we have checked the price and availability of the goods, we will e-mail you to confirm that we accept your order, and that a contract has been made between us.
In the unlikely event that the goods are no longer available, or there is a pricing mistake, we will advise you of this and you will not receive an email confirming acceptance of your order and there will be no contract between us.
- How to place an order
You can place an order via our website www.solidwooduk.com. If you think that you have made an error when placing your order, please contact us immediately by telephone on 01257 220400.

Once you have placed an order you will be contacted via e-mail within 2 working days with details of your order and further information.
The Solid Wood Furniture Company Ltd. will store your data securely and it will not be handed on to any third parties.
- Delivery
The delivery times will vary depending on the item chosen, please see individual items for delivery times. The Solid Wood Furniture Company Ltd. shall not be liable for any delay in delivery beyond the suppliers' control.
We only normally deliver up to 50 miles from our base in Chorley. For other destinations within the UK mainland please telephone us on 01257 220400 for advice.
Please be aware that delivery charges/surcharges may apply, these will be added to your order prior to the payment stage.
If the goods are damaged in transit, please let us know promptly by contacting us on 01257 220400.
Our delivery team will not move or take away any existing goods or property for the purpose of assembly or installation of the goods.
The goods will be left inside your premises at the safest convenient location. Delivery drivers as standard will not carry items upstairs, and all transportation of your goods to a location upstairs is entirely carried out completely at the customers risk and discretion.
- Cancellation and Returns
You can cancel your contract at any time up to 7 working days after the day of delivery. To do this, please e-mail us or write to us. We will reply within 2 working days of your initial contact.
You do not have to give any reason for cancellation. However a brief explanation will help us to improve the service we offer to customers in the future.
If you cancel you must return the goods to us at your own expense. We can arrange the collection for you; however the charge for this service is typically around £50.00. You must ensure the goods are packaged in the same condition as they were in at the time of delivery to you and must be in their original packaging with all labelling from the The Solid wood Funiture Company being fully visible. They must be adequately packaged to protect against damage.
If you fail to return the goods, we will collect them, and we will charge you the direct cost of collection. If you fail to take reasonable care of the goods before they are returned to us, and this results in damage or deterioration, we will charge you for the reduction in value.
For your security and protection refunds are given by the same method that the payment was made by.
This cancellation policy does not affect your legal rights- for example, if goods are faulty or inaccurately described.
Special Order items
A "special order" is any order that has been personalised to your specification by altering a colour or measurement on your instruction, or a non-stock item that has been ordered by us from our suppliers on your behalf. If you wish to cancel an order for a special item you will be liable for the cost incurred by The Solid Wood Furniture Company Ltd. up to the point to which you have informed us. This will be typically be the cost of manufacture that we have been liable for and any delivery costs that have been incurred in relation to this order.
- Faulty Goods
The Solid Wood Furniture Company Ltd offers a 12 month warranty on all goods sold to the Buyer that the goods will be free from any manufacturing defects. The warranty is unavailable where:
a. The defect in the Goods arises from any specification supplied by the Buyer.
b. The defect arises from wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence, abnormal storage conditions, failure to follow the Seller’s instructions, misuse or alteration or repair of the Goods without the Seller’s approval.
c. The Price has not been paid by the due date.
The Seller does not give any warranty that the Goods are fit for any particular purpose and the warranty given is in place of all warranties, conditions, terms, undertakings and obligations implied by statute, common law, custom, trade usage, course of dealing or otherwise all of which hereby excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
The Buyer shall inspect the Goods immediately upon receipt and shall notify the Seller within 3 days of delivery if the Goods are damaged or do not comply with any of the Contract. For all other defects, notification must be made within a reasonable time after discovery of the defect and in any event which must be within the 12 month warranty period referred to above. The Buyer shall not be entitled to withhold payment of the price whilst the Seller is investigating any claim.
Where no such notification is received, the Goods shall be deemed to have been accepted by the Buyer in good condition and in accordance with the Contract.
Where a claim of defect or damage is made then we shall collect faulty goods if the items are large, otherwise the Goods shall be returned by the Buyer to the Seller and the Buyer shall be entitled to replacement Goods or a full refund (including delivery costs, if applicable) plus any return postal charges if the Goods are in fact defective.
Goods to be returned must clearly show the order number obtained from the Seller on the package. Ownership of the Goods and/or any faulty or defective parts shall revert to the Seller upon replacement. Where returned Goods are found to be damaged due to the Buyer's fault the Buyer will be liable for the cost of remedying such damage.
